I love hearing the birds sing. Today and tomorrow, and the Scholastic book fair is over. It is a great opportunity to get new books into the hands of everyone. The profits we make from the sale are taken in books. The books the library has not already purchased are bought to go in our collection, and then we select books that will be prizes for our summer reading program. It is a great way to help the library and the community as a whole. Registration for the summer reading program will begin the last week in May, with the first program being on June 5th, and meeting each Friday for 5 weeks. Jackie and Rima are busy making plans, and I know it will be a lot of fun!
I hope today allows you to find a few minutes to take a book or magazine outdoors to sit and read. Books and warm weather-what a great combination!!~Kristi

April already!

So, the weather today is such that it is hard to believe it is spring! My son will graduate from high school in 47 days-which also means summer reading programs will be starting soon! So much to do, it gets difficult to find enough time to read (though I have that problem all year long!)...so many books, so little time!
I am excited about our 2 new staff members at the library. Sonya Thiessen, and Rima Johnson. Many of you know Rima Johnson. In addition to regular library tasks, she will be doing some of the summer reading programs. She has a lot of great ideas, so I know it will be fun! Jackie Rupp will also be doing elementary age summer reading programs, and I will again have a teen group.
Sonya has been busy getting the library website updated. She now has the blog, and facebook. Keep checking in, as she updates it often. You can check in to see the happenings at the library. Please join in and let us know how we can improve the library.
Nadine Thomasson and Reda Prichard continue adding to the library steadfastness, so be sure to stop in the library, as well as visit us online!
We will have the scholastic book fair here from April 10th - 17th, during regular library hours. Be sure to stop in! On Tuesday the 14th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Clifford and the Cat in the Hat will be here. We will also be having several groups of kids from the school doing performances. Call 444-2902 if you need more information.
Kristi

Becoming more involved with the internet

Belle Plaine Community Library is in the process of becoming more involved with the internet.
